One of the five pillars of Islam is called Zakat, which is a compulsory charity that guarantees equal distribution of wealth among members of the Muslim community. It is not only a spiritual duty but also a social duty, which is commanded by Allah to those, who have a number of conditions. However, there is a general question;
So, let us take a closer look.
Islam ka paighaam insaf aur barabri par mabni hai. Is ka aik aham rukn hai Zakat, jo har sahib-e-nisab Musalman par farz hai. Lekin aik aham sawal hai — Zakat kis par farz hai?
Zakat in Arabic translates to purification, and growth. In Islamic, it means the annual compulsory charity that all the qualified Muslims should donate out of their wealth. It cleanses the heart of greed, assists the poor and fortifies the cohesion of the Ummah.
Zakat ka matlab hai "paak karna" aur "barhna". Islam mein Zakat ek obligatory charity hai jo har eligible Muslim par farz hoti hai.
Not all people are supposed to pay Zakat. Five major conditions have to be fulfilled:
1. It is also a Muslim.
Muslims are only obligated to pay Zakat. It does not apply to non-Muslims.
2. Freedom
In the past, slaves did not pay Zakat. In the current language, this is to any person who possesses the complete authority over his wealth.
3. Sane and Grown
Zakat is compulsory on sane adults. Children and the mentally sick do not pay Zakat though they can be paid by guardians on their behalf.
4. Complete Ownership
The wealth should belong to the individual completely and should be available to him. When the wealth is withheld or cannot be utilized, then Zakat is not payable on it.
5. Nisab and One Lunar Year
An individual has to possess wealth in an amount of Nisab or more on a continuous basis of one complete lunar (Hijri) year.
Nisab is the lowest limit of wealth which a person should have in order to make Zakat obligatory. It is computed on the basis of the worth of:
Gold: 87.48 gram (~7.5 tola)
Silver: 612,36 -gr. (~ 52,5 tolas)
In case you have cash, savings, gold, silver, business inventory, or investment value that amount to or has surpassed this amount over 12 Lunar months, then you owe Zakat at the rate of 2.5%.
Nowadays the silver Nisab is frequently employed due to the fact that it serves more poor individuals.
A poor individual that has less than Nisab worth of assets in total
An individual who is indebted when the debts exceed the assets
A mentally handicapped person or a child
A person who lacks wealth during the space of a lunar year
Zakat har us shakhs par farz hai jo in sharaait par pura utarta hai...
When you are a qualified person, you are expected to donate 2.5 per cent (1/40) of your total Zakatable assets. This includes:
Bank or cash money (in hand)
Business inventory
Gold & silver
Investments (stocks, crypto, and so on)
Whether rent (or unused)
Yes. A woman who has gold jewelry or wealth not less than the Nisab in a period of one year must pay Zakat - even when she does not earn any income.
The Quran warns of Allah:
The hoarders of gold and silver and those, who spend it not in the way of Allah, announce unto them a grievous penalty.
It is the provision in (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:34).
The non-payment of Zakat is a serious sin and it will also deny the person the barakah (blessing) in wealth and may result in spiritual aftermaths.
Surah At-Tawbah (9:60) in the Qur an lists 8 types of qualified recipients as:
The needy and the poor
Zakat collectors
Debtors
Travelers
The men struggling in the path of Allah
Zakat ada karna sirf farz nahi, ek ibadat hai. Har Muslim ko chahiye ke woh waqt par Zakat kaise ada karein yeh samjhay, aur doosron ko bhi bataye.
Zakat is not merely a donation and it is a worship and an economic system which introduces balance and mercy in the society. Do not wait in case you are eligible. Give your Zakat in time and change the life of someone.
